Preserved Tanks in Switzerland
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I am fine with wrecks, I think it's unpractical to try and track down range targets.
You may want to take notes about these Pz 68s in Thun:
maps.google.com/maps/m...3,0.001635

As far as I know they are missing their power-packs and they are ballasted to simulate Leopard 2 weight. They are used for tank recovery training.

Thanks, will do.

Meanwhile, pictures from Chris of the Pz 68 at Hinterrhein:

Photos from Chris of Alex Hagenbuch's vehicles, taken at the Militär-Oldtimer and Convoy to Remember events:

Location ID 17720: Hagenbuch Collection, Hilfikon

The Panzer 68 photos include an Entpannungspanzer 65 in the background. It's new to me so I've added it to the CTR page for now, though I suspect it also belongs to Hagenbuch. Any information anyone has would be appreciated:

Location ID 17745: Convoy To Remember, Birmenstorf

Very hard to tell. I have a list of privately own Pz 61 and 68, not Entpannungspanzer. I know one is in Wildegg, its r/n is M-78648

Trevor, if you are working on Switzerland, let me know on which location, there are still quite a bunch of new or moved tanks.

From time to time I play with the idea of creating a country register on Switzerland, but there are many private collections that makes things pretty complicated...

I've added these to the end of the Thun museum entry - at a later date I may split them off, a bit like I did for RUAG:

Yes, when I went to look it up in my PTIS manuscript, I saw I already had a link there to your photos to remind me to add them - sorry!

I wondered as you list the Thun one in the Pz 61 register. Also I know you have photos of at least the one at Burgdorf. I'll return to these, and some more I discovered today.

Currently I'm just responding to the photos that Chris emailed me. Soon, I hope tp return to working on Switzerland more thoroughly. I'll finally put online all the photos you sent me (much appreciated) and I'll work through all the locations with you. The shear quantity is a bit daunting so I want to make some progress on Netherlands before I return to working on Switzerland 'full time'.

The one in Thun Panzermuseum is a special vehicle, the unique prototype based on Pz 61's hull. Production vehicles were based on Pz 68.

I will have pictures from Wildegg available online pretty soon.

As I said in the past, for me it's more important to have more and up to date data than to increase the amount of pictures

Ah, I didn't know that. Maybe I need to split them in my database. I'll think about that.

A lot of the data comes from the photos (registrations, markings, condition, events/new locations, etc.) and I tend to update the data as I add new photos. So for me the two go hand in hand.

I would like to add Entpannungspanzer to the Pz 68 PDF, but I am afraid at this stage I will miss many if not most of them.
Thanks to Tobias Haudenschild I've got a very good list of former Swiss Army tanks around the world, but that doesn't include ARV and bridglayer tanks.
On the other hand, you have to start somewhere, so an incomplete list is still better than nothing... Sooner or later I'll add whatever I know and ask around for more.

I think I also have a good starting point to create a PDF for ex-swiss Centurions, but that's lower priority for me.

Your backlog will keep increasing up to a level that not even an early retirement would allow you to cope with it Laughing Laughing Laughing

Photo's from Chris of the vehicles at Schaffhausen. That's the last of them, I'll now resume working on tanks in the Netherlands (I recently started on Amersfoort).

I would like to add Entpannungspanzer to the Pz 68 PDF, but I am afraid at this stage I will miss many if not most of them.
On the other hand, you have to start somewhere, so an incomplete list is still better than nothing...

Absolutely! If you do so let me know and I'll send you what I have.

Your backlog will keep increasing up to a level that not even an early retirement would allow you to cope with it

I hope you're wrong - I've recently been considering early retirement as the only solution! I'm putting about 1000 tanks online per year, and I estimate there are 10000-20000 tanks out there, therefore...

Very hard to tell. I have a list of privately own Pz 61 and 68, not Entpannungspanzer. I know one is in Wildegg, its r/n is M-78648

... number is M+78681 and I don't know who she belongs to.

Greetings
Chris
