M36 Jackson - Survivors
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

The first thing that pops out is the bow MG. I'll have to study it some more.

Garry

Bingo!!! M36s don't have a bow mg! The other thing I thought strange was the lower track skirts that angle back in.

Dontos - The bore evacuator seems common on Yugoslavian M36s. On the M36 in Hubbard they took the evacuator itself off but the holes in the barrel remained.

Actually, both the bore evacuator and the hull MG are indications of post-war modifications. The former indicates the presence of the M3A1 90mm gun in place of the plain M3. The hull machine gun is common in South Korean, some Taiwanese and Japanese M36s and also on Taiwanese M10s.

Japanese example:

Probably that's why the Fujimi 1/76 scale M36 kit features both the hull MG and the bore evacuator.

one or more dealers must be active in the former Yugoslavia as bits and pieces have been coming out over the last couple of years. An M36 arrived at the War & Peace show this year literally Russian engine and Yugoslav markings, only to be sprayed Olive Drab and given USA markings while in a field at the show! It drove around the arena. I have a video on YouTube of a British owned M36 driving onto a Rogers trailer at Tanks in Town 2011. That was ex Yugo, modefied back to WW2 spec, both in rear configuration and with a GAA installed.

a good thing that some people, even probably driven by money earning, participate to the preservation of historical vehicles.

May I suggest that "driven by money earning" may be the best possible motivation for preserving historic vehicles. Lord knows that preservation for the sake of preservation hasn't been all that effective in recent years!

(Yep, I'm still alive! It's been a while, and a side trip to Afghanistan figured into my absence, but I'm still around!)
