The Development of the Waffentrager
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: The Development of the Waffentrager

I've recently rediscovered a copy I had of an article from the Royal Artillery Journal of 1951. It's called "The Development of the German Weapons Carrier (Waffentrager)" by a Major MW Head RA. It contains a couple of pictures and some diagrams of the Light carrier with a 105mm how, a medium carrier with a 105mm how and a medium carrier with a 128mm L/55 K81. It was published at a time when the UK was fielding the Sexton, a vehicle was described at the time as 'too little gun and too much vehicle' and this article may have been an attempt to show what was possible with an alternative design as well as the advantages and disadvantages of that design.
