Private Collection - Gallery
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hi All,

We’ve added a gallery of photos of an AWESOME and extensive private collection.

The terms we agreed to in order to be granted access and allowed to take photographs were that we would not name the collection, nor give its location. Please assist us in honoring the terms by not identifying the collection in any forum posts - although many of you will be able to easily identify the collection. Thank You All.

This is a truly amazing collection and we have exhaustively and exhaustedly chronicled it in the 400 + images gallery. Enjoy!

The M4A1 was built by Pressed Steel Car in September or October, 1943. It has form fitting appliqué plates welded on the hull sides, which is a late feature on PSC small hatch M4A1s. The USA number painted looks accurate as it fits with the date of production of the tank.

It's a modification of a early M3 judging by the rear door, fender mounted headlights, no mine racks, and no gas can holders. BUT looks like the gas tanks are moved to the back rather then up front which is where they usually are. It also has a rear mounted pedestal which also is strange, and a cut front windshield, like to make room for a cannon barrel. I have no idea about the 2 vertical post. Maybe a T48

Nope not a T48. The one next to it is a T48.

I realized that the Half-TRack with a 40mm Bofors gun is not a T28E1 Combination Gun Motor Carriage but an M15 "Special"

T19 105 HMC I think, anyway the black cannisters on the side are the ammo cartridges of the 105 mm ammo, have lots of them in the Priest.

In the collection is a rare Windsor Carrier - I didn't know about it.

Is there still a FV214 Conqueror heavy tank ?

Bialy-r,

I didn't see an FV214 on our visit. We only saw the one building and not the storage area, so I can't say for certain. The photos are all from 4/19/13 so any changes after that date won't be reflected in the gallery.
