Cavalry Beret (Off Topic)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Did the 11th and 2nd ACR's have the same flash on their berets as the 3d ACR? Still needing one. Doug, how much to make one at your source?

Mark,
It ain't quick...pretty much "at the pleasure" of a friend-of-a-friend deal. Col. Rider's 17th Cav repro was 2-3 months, though it was a complicated job (and done for free).
Not having an image of the design, I can't ask "friend one" for an estimate, though money might accelerate it. Then again, he might not accept payment....

What would be needed is a quality scan already printed to the actual dimensions to send to the fabricator.

Thanks Doug! A guy at work has one at home. He won't sell but maybe I can scan it. I'd be happy to pay. Off to the symphony today. AKA Armor Conference.

Hi Mark! Hi Folks!

I think they maybe on their way back. I have noticed in the last two weeks a number of Berets that have something besides that standard blue flash with the stars around the outside edge.

As for the 2nd and 11th ACRs using the same type of flash, I think so. I remember doing time on the border with the 2nd ACR and they had the same type as the 3rd ACR. Also the 7th Cav of the 3rd Infantry Divison had the same type.

I still have my old flash from 1977 to 79, I was in the 11th ACR and it was an oval red and white flash with the unit crest pinned in the center. I believe the 2nd ACR did the same. The State Side Cav at least in Fort Knox wore a shield shaped flash. The current beret uses an Army wide flash with the unit crest.

The 3d ACR had a shield. I can remember that much (with the help of blurred photos).
