Never Heard This Before.....
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

That's sooooooooo kind.. I love this guy and his humor..

Best regards from France and its wonderful, superpowerful, well-organized, technologically advanced and best-in-the-world army.

Hi Folks!

New one to me.

Some how, I just don't buy it without supporting documentation.

If I remember right, he could speak French as good as any Frenchman.
Gen LeCleric's (Sp-?) Armored Division was part of 3rd Army. I would think that if he felt that way, he would have given them to another Army.

Odd, very odd. Confused

You are talking about General Leclerc's (named Marshal of France after the war) 2nd French Armored Division (known as the Deuxième Division Blindée)

This is the discussion on the Snopes board: ("G.I.Joe's" & "Echinodermata Q. Taft's" comments seem based on informed (or at least balanced) opinon and healthy skepticism...worth reading)

msgboard.snopes.com/cg...000429;p=1

Nowhere in my search can I find an attribution as to the time and place he is alleged to have made this remark. It also sounds inconsistant with his experience and some of the incidents reported above. It sounds like good fare for a catchy Tee-Shirt phrase, but I'm skeptical without a more solid basis in reporting.

Thanks for comments. Until proven otherwise I'll believe that this is NOT true. Another urban legend that someone made up.
