Fort Stewart Museum?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

My apologies, especially to those with dial-up, regarding the number of pictures.

I've zoomed in the various shots I had of the M1A1 Abrams, and the only imprinted numbers I could find (with 300kb resolution photos), are the numbers 545, which are located on the front plate above the stencilled 3I 1-64 numbers. Seems too short to be a serial number though.

The M4A3 is a ex-flame tank:

Thanks for the info. The barrel on that M4A1 is a bit odd - its been discussed before that it could be a postwar 76mm gun retrofit/rebuild?

Neil,
It is simply a tube. From what I was told, the turret is frozen at the angle and had to be cut off to fit on the low-boy. A metal tube was added later.
Thanks for fixing the photos!

Thanks again Dan - can you tell us more exactly where the "National Guard Area" is?

maps.google.com/maps?f...a&t=h&z=13

BTW, the M4A3 has now been moved to the new National Infantry Museum.

Neil,
I really couldn't explain as I haven't been there in many years-the tank was in a NG training area by what I believe was by a NG armory?
