What is that ?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Its a replica of an early Jeffrey armoured Car built by volunteers and staff at Pancho Villa State Park. It is an original Jeffrey Quad chassis with new armour.

The forum has it down as a Barker armoured car but it is, I suspect, a Baxter. They were a series of donated vehicles converted to armoured cars using kits provided by Baxter of Talbot-Baxter fame....

Interestingly enough the car in this image above that one on the forum is not a RR but a Talbot-Baxter.

It is in Portugal.
I think it might be based on Vickers-Carden-Lloyd chassis.

That is an older (think 60-70's) A.B.I. - "Automobil Blindat de Infanterie"

When i was in the romanian service my platoon had 3 of those and were generally used by police forces in cities. Military Police rapid response teams have them for counter terrorism interventions and as of the 80's were used against riots. We specifically trained in riot control with the use of the ABI. On some later models there was a hinge/mount on each side of the push bars that allows the attachment of riot shields forming a bow ... like a boat. the tactical application was to push into the crowd and splitting it and deploy a platoon behind it to break the crowd.

Soccer riots were GGs Smile

edit ****

I just realized i said not much regarding the capabilities of the platform.

Speed - not recomended beyond 45-50 mph ... we did and usually ended up shredding tires.

Engines - Some were diesel (the newer ones), but most had a large inline gasoline motor.(most were 4 cyl but some in the Bucharest batalions had 6 cyls.

All of them were manual transmissions - 4 speed

All were 4x4

Chassis was the same used by the Romaian ARO SUVs.

They seat 5 ... driver + leader in the front passenger seat, Above the wheel wells of the back axle there were two more fold down seats facing inwards and those were for the riflemen. The turret housed the 5th member of the team on a bicycle type seat.

The older models liek the pictured one had a manual turret ... meaning you had to muscle the thing around from inside while propping your feet against the sometimes slippery smooth metal floor. The ones i served in were electric and had nice optics on the electrically driven 7.62x54 belted machine gun.

Fire team consisted in 5 AK of which 1 was regular barrel with a fold under stock (driver) 3 AKSU models with side folding stocks and shortie barrels, lastly one support AK with a box magazine and long barrel with bipod. In the boxes inside the vehicle we also had a shoulder mounted rocket launcher (AG-5)and a Dragunov (PSL).

Two repros or partial reconstructions of Cruseder tanks in Egypt

www.flickr.com/photos/...966678037/

Any info on this topic ??

Many years ago I seen a 25 seconds film where there have been wrecks of British WWII tanks on desert in Africa (Libia or Egypt).
Have anybody know something about it ?

I think the wrecks of WWII in the desert come and go with the wind, one day coverede the next day visible.

We had a bunker in Denmark that was hidden under sand dunes for 64 years that suddenly appeared on the beach because of a storm.

Everything was still as the Germans left it in 1945 except for the signs of age.
