Cobra King (reposted updates)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

For the interested, some interesting observations made following the turret removal.

Some component casting numbers, not easily visible when the turret is mounted.

Also an obvious cut in the shielding for the fire extinguisher handles, that had to be cut to allow turret ring clearence, on the left rear area.

Enjoy
Don

Jim

That is no problem as I have a secondary 'task' of photographing all the work that I'm doing. I tend to average 50 to 60 images per work session.

Garry gets the pick of the bunch for the Armor For The Ages website and then I try to select any interesting images for all you 'C.I.A.' types. Wink

Regards
Don

I just need them to master a kit - I have no plans to post any of them anywhere.

This is what it looked like inside the drivers position, looking back into the turret area as the turret was removed.

Garry

Looks good as always.

I'm planning on my regular Wednesday appointment with CK, if nothing pops up.

If you can make the trip, I'm sure there is enough work to be done.

The turret race & basket are screaming for attention.

Don

Thanks.

Last week was my only window of opportunity to work on CK. I'll have to wait until next year before I can come down. If you work, take photos please.

Garry

Looking good guys!

A couple of points wrt the new pages, the 'wedge shaped turret traverse pedal' is actually the gun firing buttons box. The turret being traversed with the handle mounted on top of the traverse pump.

The pry bar is the track jack handle, a nice find!

Keep up the good work.

I know it is an impossible request but could you keep working restos and refurbs for ever? Laughing Without you and Gary (and many others I am certain) little known but invaluable historical vrhicles would be lost forever. I personaly didn't even know about CK until very recently. Now we just need to get it on the History Channel. Smile

Thanks for everyone's hard work to keep these pictures and updates flowing to us. I would love to be there but this is almost as good.

As well as the Jacques Littlefield Panther restoration, this has been one of the most interesting and historical finds ever in my time.

Thank you for all the kind words.

But the job isn't finished so,.....back to 'work' I go.... Wink

Today I spent 6 hours 'tinkering', here some pics of time well spent.

Oh, by the way, we lubricated the turret race ring after vacuuming out all the debris (mainly from the corroded turret seal).
The race bearing now rotates easily by hand. I even took some video of it rotating, just gotta convert the video & figure out how to post it. Neat surprize, to say the least.

Stay tuned
