The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Solbiate Olona. L 6/40

This tank has an interesting story, in the fifties it was used as a monument inside an Army barracks in Vercelli. Back at the time it was missing the turret and its configuration led to believe it was used as a turretless tractor by the germans. After that it was moved to another army barracks in Legnano, with a sheet metal, fake turret. Nowadays it's in Solbiate Olona, at Caserma "Ugo Mara", a NATO base. The turret is a new; somewhat better, steel replica, some idler wheels, the lifting jack, the antenna and the glacis lights aren't original.

Anyway, it's the only L 6 in Italy, out of 3 survivors worldwide and there aren't that many pics of it around:
