A member on the 11th Cav Nam forum writes:

"The Military Channel's Tank Rebuild tonight had the Isle of Wight Military Museum crew rebuilding a Comet tank. The crew had problems removing the mantlet, and the crew leader mentioned it was "absolute stupidity" or "absolute idiocy" to put turret balls beneath the mantle. What is a turret ball?"

I saw this episode but missed that aspect, other than the problems with mantlet removal. What sayeth the forum about "turret balls"?

The only ''turret balls'' I know are the large ball-bearings used in the turret ring (Leopard 2).

"Bolts" (not balls) was the word.

A bit of an accent wouldn't you say? Laughing I've seen that episode a million times. Mr. Green
