I recently finished reading this book (Blood Red Snow). The author, Gunter K Koschorrek, was a member of the 1st Cavalry/24 Panzer Division starting in 1943 at Stalingrad until the end of the war. It's quite a story about a landser serving on the Eastern Front, and sobering to read.
A friend told me that Koschorrek had later served with the Bundeswehr after the war. He offered no evidence beyond a fuzzy headshot that was supposed to be a picture of Koschorrek in a Bundeswehr officer uniform. This left me curious about what he did post-war and if he was in fact a member of the Bundeswehr, and in what capacity (if he was). After a fairly careful Google search, I could not find any other mentions of his service, beyond the 2 or 3 books in English and German that he appears to have authored.
Does anyone know where I might find more information of Koschorrek's post-war life and (maybe) service?
