So, as some of you may know, every year, when this biggest military related museum in our country (Czech Republic) ends the season at the end of summer, it helds so called "Tank Day" at it's display arena. This event has become a very popular among the people (there are literally ten thousands of visitors every year) and the museum shows practically every year some new stuff. I did a few hundreds of pictures in last few years, so I thought I might show you some of them. I hope you don't mind. Nice board btw Smile

Well official it is an AFV forum, so military fighting vehicle's either with track's, wheels or whatever can be used for transportation

However the most of us will not start complaining if sometimes an military truck will appear

Only the webmaster, if you are putting to much picture's in one thread Twisted Evil ...... Laughing

To the other folks in general: did we not some sort of discussion, several times, to start an new special thread for other military vehicle's, like trucks Confused Confused
Perhaps an it's idea to actualy start one Neutral

What an awesome collection of 'runners'.

I especially like the IS-3. I would love to see this tank 'upclose'. I always thought the 'lines' of this tank were pretty cool.

Thanks for posting
Regards
Don

Why do it have such color? Shocked

Adamicz,

Very nice pictures and we'd love to see more of them. Out of deference to those members still on dialup, would you be so good as to start additional threads after posting in groups of no more than ten? You are welcome to start as many threads as you like to get your collection displayed. It has to do with page loading speed for some members.

You can call them "Lesany Tank Days pt II", "Lesany Tank Days pt III", etc....or whatever you like to call them.

Thanks so much!

And as Michel pointed out, there is no objection to posting pictures of military wheeled vehicles, trucks, etc. as long as they are in the general theme of the website's span of interest.

We might investigate opening a new forum for wheeled military vehicles if there is sufficient interest and quantity of material. Generally, we just work it in here.

I know the sad history of this tank.

But I don't understand, why some crazy politics influence on the color of rare historical tank being preserved in a museum.

I've thought that this is good museum that is capable to make good restoration work.
Did I mistaken?

Re:

And the artist, David Cerny, who fourteen years ago started the debate around the allegedly first Soviet tank in Prague, in his typical tongue-in-cheek manner welcomes the initiative.

"I think it's a great idea! I think we should bring back more communist symbols. I would go much further and I would build back all the Russian stars, all the signs saying that the Communist Party is our leader and the Soviet Union is our biggest brother because when you look at the 40 percent of population saying that it was much better to live under communism than now - it would be just better!"

I always thought the ultimate irony was the location of "The Museum of Communism" in the Casino building, upstairs over a....."McDonalds" Laughing

If anything, keeping it in the pink, as it were, adds to the history of the tank. Otherwise, it's just another JS2 out of the 100 intact examples P-O has catalogued so far.
Many people in countries that were Warsaw Pact, but not Russia, aren't exactly happy to have had their errrr, "freedom protected " by the USSR post 1945.
Let's just be pleased that it didn't end up recycled as razor blades.

100 IS-2, really? Shocked Do you know the difference between IS-2 and IS-2M? Smile

As for the rest, tomorrow I will remember all the evil that germans made to my country and will paint Tiger in, for example, black color.
(This will add history to this tank also)
Is it good work?
Will you say to people who will cry "What are you doing?" that they should be pleased that it didn't end up recycled? Razz

Every tank in every museum can be painted in the colors of rainbow due to some actual or imaginary offences to the countryes that made them.
But very seldom somebody do it because this is bad work.
