What is the M48H? I'm looking at photos and it appears to be an M60 with an M48A5 turret. These are in service in Taiwan. Not familiar with them.

That's basically what she is. When the ROC modified their M48A1's to basically M60A3 standards (CM-12), they also took a bunch of those turrets and installed them on M60A3 hulls provided by Anniston. This saved them a lot money by reducing the need to convert as many M48A1 hulls to the newer standards, which was the installation of the AVDS-1790 engine along with other upgrades to bring on par with the M60A3 hull. They did not modify the hull with the newer rear grill system like the M60 though, and instead went with a simpler conversion developed by Teledyne. Externally you can ID these by the two exhausts located on the top grills left and right of the travel lock.

The M48H is pretty much a cover designation as there are a number of M48 & M60 based models covered by that designation. These days the CM designation is more widely used.

There is a full explanation of them on JED.
