I remember having seen this chassis at Falaise few years ago. It could well be in 2009, because I took some photos of the chassis with my most recent camera, which I bought in June 2008.

Anyone know where this chassis is now, is someone restoring it or is it still at Falaise.

Regards

Thanks for the information P-O.

Anyone going to be in the Falaise area soon so it can be confirmed if it is still there.

I was there few weeks ago and it was not at this location anymore (i.e. stored outside, in the field behind the museum with all the other wrecks), but it could be stored indoor and I have no access there.

Thinking of this, I know that the Falaise museum owner is restoring a SdKfz 11, then the chassis used for the restoration could be the one seen above??

Thanks for the info. and the pictures P-O.

You could be right about it being the same chassis, looks like it is going to be an excellent restoration.

Is the body work original or reproduction, it looks in too good of a condition to be original, but pictures can hide the truth.

All that said, good to see another one being rebuilt, hopefully to running condition.

Richard,

I attentively analysed the photos that I took at the Falaise museum and at the SdKfz 11 restoration place, and this is indeed not the same chassis. However, I know that there are several chassis at Falaise, most of them are bare chassis without wheels and torsion bars. I think that the body contains few original parts, but it is mostly a reproduction, I think.

Are there any surviving SdKfz. 8 DB 9 out there? I've only found DB 10s.

All survivors are DB 10
The big difference is mostly in the suspension for the roadwheels though.
Up untill the DB 9 theyhad leaf suspension
and the DB 10 had torsion bar suspension for the roadwheels
