One interesting piece of info, a book edited by Belgrade Military Museum says the Pz I F in Kubinka was donated by them.

"- Oh, an Italian tank ... thank you Herr Quartiermeister, now we'll be safe when they throw rocks at us ... small rocks."
#5: Re: Belgrade. Kalemegdan Fortress Author: Massimo_Foti, Location: Lugano, SwitzerlandPosted: Wed May 16, 2012 6:25 am ---- WW II Italian tanks were designed for mountain warfare, being "rocks safe" was a major requirement

It looks familiar, but I am not able to identify it properly. I am asking around on italian forums, but so far I've failed to nail it down

As a guess, because whoever was wielding the brush, didn't know any different?
Certainly not "official" RAL colours either, so we just have to be thankful, that someone decided to preserve them at all!
