I just saw the following on Facebook:
"From Bill Miley,
Hello All, Tom Jentz died last night from stage four colorectal cancer. As most of you know, Tom had been receiving treatment for over two
years in an attempt to save his life.
Most patients would have died almost immediately after having the massive loss of blood Tom experienced while doing research with Hilary Doyle
at Ft. Knox several Summers ago. Since then, Tom was treated by specialists at Georgetown hospital.
Tom called me about five or six weeks ago and told me that he was given about thirty days to live.
Dennis Holicky and I visited with him and he was his usual feisty self. He was working on a Panzer Tracts BergePanther book.
Tom and Hilary picked a successor to continue with about 15 to 19 more Panzer Tracts. The author of "Repairing the Panzers"
will continue to write the text and Hilary will do the drawings. As usual, Tom did not share any information about upcoming titles.

Bill Auerbach will be the contact for the family to provide any information regarding arrangements. Saul Garcia may also post on the Axis websites.
Please remember Tom in your own way.
Let us all hope for a better year in 2013.
Sincerely, Bill Miley"

RIP Tom. You contributions were many and will not be forgotten.

Very sad news. Whoever gets his collection, notes, etc will get a treasure-trove. Hopefully it is not lost.

I last spoke with him in April last year. He said pretty much all of his material was not in electronic format.

That being said, he was able to help me with some info on the Ordnance collection (specifically pointing me to the existence of the 1945 inventory lists). His knowledge will be missed.

Neil
