Prepar3D V.2 releases Monday, Nov.25, 2013. It will not be a free upgrade for existing users, but the prices for the three types of licenses haven't increased by very much. There have been many improvements to the rendering system and much of the rendering load has been moved to the graphics card taking the load off of the CPU

that said, hardware requirements have increased some, If you are seriously interested but unsure that your current rig will run V.2 you could try the developers license for a month at about $10
