Ah the feelings this stirs.
The sounds fo those engines, the way it flies.
Wish I'd known about it earlier, I woulda gone.
Hope there's something down my way.

Two World War Two Lancasters have flown together for the first time in 50 years.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's aircraft has been joined by the only other airworthy example, which has crossed the Atlantic to Lincolnshire.

The pair was due to pass over Lincoln cathedral last Friday but the flight was postponed due to bad weather.

A series of practice flights near RAF Coningsby will now be performed ahead of a month of events across the UK.

That is fantastic. Would love to see and hear them make a low level pass together.

This would be awesome. I hope they've arranged for a good camera plane.

Apparently they're doing a series of around 60 displays throughout Aug/Sept/Oct.
No dates official yet but I'll try and get to one and post film.

There must be something big going on to get the CA one over here as well.
It is the anniversary of WW1 after all.
We might see the two of these in formation with the Battle of Britain Flight Spit' and 'Cane.

Will advise.

May have an opportunity this weekend.
They're going to be doing a fly-past both days of 'Car-Fest' in Overton and on show up at RAF Duxford for the 'Flying Legends' airshow.
I may be able to go on Sunday.

Somebody needs to get up there with a B-25 camera plane. Seriously.

I think at least one of the former Talmantz Aviation camera planes is still airworthy. How could they not have planned for this after a cross-ocean, 13 hour flight for these displays?

This begs for a "Flight of the Lighnings" type video, which itself was awesome.

Seriously doubt that Dan.
Not sure it would hold up after that kind of flight.
Vera could be considered almost 'new'.
Ours has been flown continuously and takes a lot of maintenance to keep it going just for the ceremonial duties it has today.

Sadly I have to miss out on Duxford today so I won't get to see them together after all.
Gutted and hope I can find somewhere else while Vera's still here.

lol
Yeah I know what you mean.
Lovely sound.
I live in the Thames Valley so, whenever there's a Memorial Flight flypast over Buckingham Palace in London, I get to see it escorted by the Spit and the Hurricane.
The exit route comes right up the Thames and past the Airforce's Memorial in Runnymede.
They fly so low that you can sometimes watch them from above their flightpath.
You don't hear the sound so well from up there but the sight makes up for it.
