The late Massimo Foti had been involved I believe, but there's a basis for a search there.

Almost every major range or installation will have them in target lots or down range. Anniston doesn't keep very many, that is, not the Military History side (they don't have many either there), but the fleet management side. The ones they have are either from units who no longer want them or recovered from defunct civilian locations close by. Last count from satellite images they only have about 10 in the M1 lot. Mostly straight M60's and an A2 of all things. Think the A2 came from Redstone Arsenal.
