Just found this from the Imperial War Museum (RAF Duxford) on the Hawker Hurricane.
Thought it might interest some.

My old CFS1 steed, I preferred the 'Canes to Ponies and Spit's in CFS dogfights.
It was less powerful and slower, but more manoeuvrable and easier to trim.
If you knew how to trim it (I had mine set to the throttle control on my FFB2), it would stay up after taking phenomenal beatings.
I could sometimes continue to "fly" it, after a fashion (M$ game controls only, obviously) with only one wing, and even managed to land it like that once too.
Also gave more arm room for flinging poo at enemies (if you know, you know).

Shades Snr. was too young to contribute to the war effort, but worked for Hawkers at Brooklands, Weybridge, after the war.
He was apprenticed to Barnes Wallace at one time as a draughtsman at Brooklands, now an aviation / transport museum about five miles from where I'm now living.

Always had a much easier time shooting down bombers with the Hurricane when I was Playing European Air War. Had to make one pass and run like heck because the Spitfires that were supposed to be escorting my group NEVER kept the 109's off my tail.

I have not played EAW for over a decade but all I have to do is think about that game and I can still can hear its theme music.
