lol told you it wouldn't take long.
Yup, thats it. afterwards I found a picture that wasn't such a giveaway. The dive brakes extended sort of spoils it.

Wow, I didn't know that, hadn't even heard of this bird before and I thought I knew my WWII era planes. After a little research, I turned up the following.
This plane was built by North American under govt contract number C/N 97-15881/16380. This covered serial numbers 83663 through 84162. Its reported that 500 were built, but both the contract number and serial numbers only totals 499. It was also only built in 1942, not 1940 as listed in belows information. This particular aircraft in the picture was number 3 built in that contract run, and was sent to RFC at Cinncinnati, Ohio on 17 Feb 1945. It is now on display at the USAF Museum, WPAFB, Ohio. In 1990 the plane was reported as having a registration of N39502. The info below was what I got off a "Google" search. I'm posting this with my son, thats why its his signature/Avatar.
This was the dive-bomber version of the P-51 Mustang. The USAAF bought this version first, but full priority was later given to the fighter version, and no more than 500 A-36's were built. It was unofficially known as 'Invader'.
