#1: CC FSX flight Author: EURO_Rigel, Posted: Mon Nov 20, 2006 5:22 pm ---- I mentioned to Bush during the sunday flight That I,d like to see an organized FSX flight. It was suggested that FRI the 24th maybe a good day to attempt this.I have a small Alaska hop with multiple stops that would be good in a cessna or even a mooney...this will be sort of a trial for all the bells and whistles in game like comms and pilot and co pilot flying . the secenery is a bit intensive so it should be a good benchmark for future
operations. I am thinking 1pm cst or 7pm gmt (I believe that is the same time)... Anyone interested or if you have any suggestions please post here....thx
Rigel

#9: Re: CC FSX flight Author: EURO_Rigel, Posted: Thu Nov 23, 2006 12:51 am ---- Ok...for all that want to show up I am attaching the flight plan....
We have multiple stops in order to try the bells and whistles...I will have the Game up in ADVENTUREs on gamespy 30 min prior to takeoff....feel free to join at any time.
Password is the same as fs9 server.
Just a quick overview, we are going to bop around the southern part of Alaska seeing the sights and watching for whales...we will all meet on TS but we may switch to game comms at a later time in the flight. (one of the things I want to check is game performance with TS and game comms..)I,d like to stick to one kind of aircraft so we can start and end at the same time. Cessna, Mooney, Beechcraft, which ever.... at some point in the flight I'd also like to try out the Pilot-copilot thingy. We could double up and fly with a m8.
Well I'll all of you Friday......
Flight plan attached

#14: Re: CC FSX flight Author: Shadow_Banshee, Posted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 10:01 pm ---- strange why cant you see the plane id numbers on all planes in the pics?

While we did notice some visual 'glitches' such as props not spinning and rw lights at the wrong elevation, overall the trip went very well. We were looking to explore some of the new features of FSX such as "in game comms" and the ability to 'ride' as a passenger/co-pilot in other players planes.
The Comms...
Using in game comms works ok, but the signal seemed weak, almost too weak to hear. In all fairness, since TeamSpeak was working so well, everyone kept using it, but there are some adjustments that can be made in FSX which requires a restart of the game to finalize. We did some adjustments, but didn't restart the game to see if that made a difference.
Riding as a passenger/copilot...
VERY COOL and works great! Once you select your plane and options such as let other players join in your plane in MP, you go to the "Ready Room". In the RR, you can see the other players names and planes they're flying. If they chose to let other players in their plane, they'll have a button by their name that allows you to join them.
When you join...
You'll be a copilot with access to all the same features as the pilot except using controls to 'drive' the plane. You can open the radio stack, GPS, set the Mixture and Prop settings for the engine, raise and lower the gear, flaps, etc. Since we were in a small plane like the Mooney, this was cool, but you can imagine that same position with the larger more complex Jets or Prop Liners.
The pilot can hand over control of the plane to the copilot. (Switch Roles). A key combination of "Shift + T" sends a request to the Copilot asking them to take over the aircraft. The Copilot uses the same keys to accept and the control is handed over to the new pilot.
Spanky and I flew in Spanky's plane, (he didn't want to use mine and kept mumbling something about the smell of lanolin...LOL). But the funny thing was in landing. Since I was the pilot in his plane, I landed and Spanky got to watch. Not a bad thing if you don't crash...lol
MP Frame rates...
I have to say I didn't notice any difference in frames between offline and online play. No shuddering, stuttering or choppy performance was noticed and we had 5 players in there. As soon as more planes and different paint schemes come out, that may effect it, it was nice to have a smooth experience.
The Scenery...
What can I say, Fled spoiled us with the EnviroPak for FS9. While some parts of the scenery is very good, some parts fall short compared to the EP CC released for FS9. I have a feeling something will be done about that knowing Fled..lol
Thanks to all who joined up today for this flight and thanks to Rigel for the flight plan and the idea!!
