....Head out on the runway!
Lookin' for adventure,
in whatever flies our way!

Interesting article in this month's Private Pilot magazine featuring new alternative powerplants for light & GA aircraft had this one listed....

"Hog Air" Harley-Davidson alternative aircraft powerplant...now how cool is that??

More info on this at their website:
www.hog-air.com/info.htm

Questions that immediately come to mind:

How mind-bending will it be to see an aircraft coming down the taxiway accompanied by the sounds of the familiar "potato-potato-potato" V-twin thump? HOOO-WEEEEEE!!!!!

Will the Discovery Channel soon be featuring "Biplane Build-Offs" with Chica, Russell Mitchell, Arlen Ness and Billy Lane? And how much chrome billet crud CAN the OCC guys add to an aircraft before it's too heavy to get airborne?

Plus....Will the FAA be moved to impose helmet laws on sport aviation pilots?

And....will we start hearing the phrase "Loud Props Save Lives" anytime soon?

OK I couldn't resist....

And hey man, don't get me wrong.....I dig bikes and the Teutles and what they do, even tho the show is a bit of a dysfunctional train-wreck to watch at times....but just thinking about the above, led to this inevitable result!

That was AMF in the '70's...you're about 25 years out of touch! Laughing

Oh, hey speaking of which, GREAT news too! Yesterday, giving my honda it's inaugural wash & polish for the riding season, I discovered a slight smudge of oil seep on the side case of the motor! I was so proud of her.....she growin' up to be a real bike now.....any good engine has to leak a little oil...don'it? Cool

Yeah those are some proud moments when your machinery oozes it's first dribble of oil on it's own.

But then one day you turn around and that young machine is a classic and you wonder "where do all the years go?" Then you also realize that classic is just as dependent on you now in it's later years as you were dependent on it when you were young. They become stubborn and tempermental, forgetfull and begin to lose control of their oil pan. It finally gets to the point where you have to buy those steele lined Depends with the Super Absorbent Kitty Litter.

Enjoy it while you still can my friend.

Oh, NICE!

Dang man, there's enough petroleum there to trigger at least 10 deaths fightin' over it in any Mad Max / Road Warrior movie!

Hey what kinda bike is that that's making you a future Oil Baron?

And last thought on the HD-powered plane......either it'll have to be flown only at low altitudes with open cockpit, or a bug dispenser will have to be mounted aft of the firewall to enhance that "hardcore" experience...

Well, Rolling Eyes I kinda cheated. It's not a bike

But the same principle applies.

I figure if gas prices keep going the way they are I should be able to squeeze enough Petro from that kitty litter to retire 5 years early.

I hear them bugs offer some good protein Laughing

HA! I thought that frame rail looked kinda big and dirty for a bike....and a big beefy tire...but, well, you never know!

WOW that's a sweet Cougar!!!! Yeah!!

And it's just like a good old Ford to do that....leak like a sieve, run like a champ! (And that's nothing against 'em.......)

Damn I shoulda noticed the hose hanging down on the left as a giveaway. That's one of your power steering hoses
ahead of the front tire right? I had a '66 Mustang fastback and you can always tell when the power steering hoses
were replaced on those cars when you spotted one on the road...they always seem to hang down a litttle lower
afterwards.

Hope you hang on to that sweet thing for along time!

Well, it's not an XR-7, but still pretty nice! I had one just like that, lo...many years ago. No vinyl top, but the small block V8. A few Cougars even made it into Trans Am racing in those days...(it being basically a Mustang) with all the luxo stuff ripped out. The '69's and later weren't as good looking...not even the "Eliminator" model, which strained to ape Don Nicholson's cars. The '67-'68 was what was happening. There were a FEW actually built with 427's...see the Clooney/Tarantino flick "From Dusk till Dawn" for an example of a REALLY dusty one!

actually it is an XR-7. 1968. 302 with 4brl carb, 3 speed auto.

I even have the original window sticker for it. Will try to get it posted tomorrow. kinda cool. I also have an article someone gave me from a car mag review when the cougar first came out. Think they described it as "a Mustang with style".

I agree the 67-68 were much nicer looking than the later years

Cool, Richard.....mine was the same color as yours....what'd they call that...."lime frost" or something?

Here is the ultimate (and not mine)...the one of VERY few 427 XR7s...
MMMMMMMmmmmmmmm!
