Good Morining Everyone!

Yesterday at the local model club meeting, one of the guys reported he had seen an article on the inter-net about a Sherman Tank that had be uncovered on Iwo Jima!

I have done an inter-net search, found 843 items with the words Iwo Jima.

About the only news I found was articles about the change of the island's name and the actions of a JPAC team conducting a recon mission for cave openings.

I checked in on the Sherman Register site, nothing new over there.
I checked the Allied DG over at Missing Lynx, nothing there.

Not asking for you all to go searching, just kept your eyes and ears open for new stories about Iwo Jima and any newly found lost Shermans.

But I did find these while cleaning out my 'office'.

(Its actually a large store room in the basement,.... Rolling Eyes

this sherman is also in the beginning of the movie "letters from iwo jima", shown in the opening sequences for the movie, is it not?
i dont know why, but i just couldnt get into this movie.

I thought I had checked out Missing Lynx for any stories or pictures, I guess I didn't do a very good job of it. Crying or Very sad

Thanks Chris the Toadman and Tanker 2010.

I think that is the vehicle the club member was talking about.

He was asking why the Marines put bird like cages on the hatchs and why they added concrete to the sides. That question threw Confused

us treadheads until someone remember the concrete was put behind wood sidings and the wood had rotted away.

The way he was talking about pictures of the find being all over the internet, I was thinking that this was something new. Looks like it's last year's news.

To bad the Marine Corps can't go after it and bring it home to their new museum. Crying or Very sad

Okay, call me hardheaded or what but I found the pic.

Still looking for the link. It has to be renamed under something I'm not identifying it with the subject matter. Oh well, just thought you'd want to see it.
