This is a post made by Buckshot on our boards and I knew you ladies and gentlemen would be interrested in.

Hey guys, with the training component of this simulator taking such a heavy focus, I'd love to hear thoughts on what training aircraft everyone is looking forward to the most.

To fill in those who are not aware, Fighter Ops is taking a very unique approach to the simulation in that we intend to model not only combat aircraft, but our first priority is to a realistic representation of what it takes to become a combat pilot. Recruits will start at "Fighter Ops UPT School" (the equivilant of the USAF Undergraduate Pilot Training" School) We are fortunate to have USAF instructors and former students who have enabled us to build a training program modelled very closely on the real deal.

FO UPT will consist of ground school and flying components, where you will be introduced to the T-6 Texan II. You will learn the basics of piloting an aircraft, correct take-off, landing, pattern, formation and navigation procedures including cross country navigation, and instrument flying "under the hood". Successful graduates will then progress to IFF (Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals) where you will get to experience the T-38, here you will get your first taste of tactical flying in one of 4 specialist tracks, again based on real USAF curriculum depending on what type of combat aircraft you would like to fly. You will again hone your formation flying skills, as well as get a taste of air to air and air to ground tactical flying proportionate to the role of the combat aircraft track you have chosen.

The venerable T37 "tweet" will also be included as a flyable option, now being phased out by the T-6, this aircraft is a sentimental favourite among many pilots, and will be presented in Fighter Ops as a bonus aircraft.

I hope you ladies and gentlemen like the direction this development is taking.

Laughing Laughing Laughing LOL! This is the same kind of thing that we do at JO for CFS1. We start with the T-6 for basic flight training, then when a cadet graduates, he goes on to a group that flys designated aircraft. I personnally fly WW2 heavy bombers, but that was what I chose. The IL2 branch does something similar, though I don't know what the specific planes are. Everyone starts out like they never had any flight training, and works from there. I personnally taught Basic Flight, and I have had people that had been flying a while, so the training was tailored to give them a little more. Those that had just started, were taught the basics and I remember a couple cadets that I taught that had never even been able to land. After basic flight, they were landing like pros. Rodion will be able to tell you all about the IL2 side in a little while, as I know he is currently enrolled in basic flight next session. Basic flight is 2 weeks of class every other night, 7 sessions & a graduation mission and it is well worth it. Mr. Green

Hey jo_wingnut,

Thank you for your respons.
And it is your answer that confirms that we took the correct path with our training module.

We know that several flight sims have Sqn's that create trainingflights to teach people how to fly and eventually fight with certain AC types.

This time the whole training structure will be single player and multiplayer supported from inside the sim itself.

After about 2 releases (as FighterOps is a continued project) you will find that the MP part is completely build to support the needs of the virtual Sqns, that used to create their own unsupported training programs.

This time giving them full control from inside the sim itself. Making them able to upload results to the FO and a server from the Sqn itself.
Those results will be viewable through webpages.

No more need for third party programs to keep track of progress.

When further announcements/ posts go into more detail you will find that it will be quite comprehensive and see that this is build towards the needs of organisations just like yours.

Best,

Dirk
