World War II reenactors will storm Tiscornia Beach and the airport

Jim Gifford and Annette Weston Reporting

The first day of summer in Southwest Michigan will see some unusual beach activity this year as Tiscornia Beach comes under attack in a World War 2 re-enactment being put together by Lest We Forget of Southwest Michigan.

Organizers laid out the 3 day event Thursday at the air port. Director Lee Scherwitz says the reenactments will show the more than 220 people involved what World War II was like.

They will be recreating a troop landing in the Pacific, and capturing the Southwest Michigan Regional Airport, and there will be a replay of Normandy, storming Tiscornia Beach.

There will also be commanders, briefings, USO style shows, weapons demonstrations at the airport - plus a military vehicle parade through Benton Harbor and St. Joseph.

More details are available on the Lest We Forget website at www.in-am.org/ww2.
