Hello,

in order to publish a new PDF file (Surviving Tank-based US Self-propelled Artillery - M8 HMC, M12 GMC, M19 GMC, M40 GMC and T88 HMC), I'm looking for photos of the M8 HMC stored at Aberdeen and the 2 M8s from Brent Mullins Jeep Parts.

This PDF file will not include the M7 priest because they are too numerous.

I don't know if Neil has any pictures of the Aberdeen M8. It is in a storage area that has active equipment at the other end so is officially a 'no picture zone' when I'm giving tours. At one point Neil had a letter from the PAO with slightly different rules so he may have gotten some shots of it. It has been in that location since it was painted after coming off the old Mile of tanks 5+ years ago. It may take a while but I'll see what I can do if he can't come through.

Hello Mark,

curiously I got the same information that it comes from Litllefield's collection, but no M19 at Portola is listed in Neil's USA AFVs register. Maybe he forgot to list this one?

It looks like the one at Joe Garbarino's World War 2 Military Vehicle Museum in San Rafael, California. I'll check my pics of it when I get home. BTW, where did you find this pic?

Do you need pics of Littlefield's M8 HMC?

I can get pics of his M40 in about 3 weeks.

Since you have the M19 series in this group, how about M42 "Dusters"? I have one at the boneyard in Lafayette, LA.

Pierre,

I see 3 in my neck of the woods (Arkansas). I can't promise anything right away but I do live close (Compared to other board members) to all the Arkansas M40's. It might be a little while but I'll get them pictures eventually. I never travel without a camera.

Hello Tanklord,

well I'm trying to list only WW2 tanks, and it seems to me that M19 are WW2 tanks and M42 Dusters are not. First, the M19 is directly based on a WW2 tank and the M42 is based on the Walker Bulldog, which was developed after the war. Second, it can be discussed whether the M19 is a real WW2 tank or not, because its development started before September 1945, but it seems that it never saw action in any WW2 combat. But there are other tanks which are considered as being WW2 tanks, and they never saw any combat too.

Joe, it would be fine to get some pics.. it's not an emergency anyway Wink
