Nah, the 278th is an HBCT now - "Heavy Brigade Combat Team." Technically the 11th ACR is too. Neil

Interesting. I remember reading somewhere that the last ACR was converting into a Heavy Bde Combat Team (HBCT).

Hi,

There is probably someone who knows for sure, but I think that a lot of the Cav units kept their lineage when they converted to RSTA (Reconaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition) units. The 278th ACR would now be a RSTA brigade, but retains the traditional Cavalry name.

Still an "ACR" in name I think, although I suppose it could change to just a plain "Cavalry Regiment" like the 2nd did (no, "Stryker Cavalry Regiment" is not an official designation, at least in lineage terms). Neil
