"He'd been a P-51 pilot in the war, and there's a story going around today about a pilot of a vintage P-51 who just a few years back couldn't get the landing gear down.
They tried everything they could, and someone thought of Hoover.
They get him on the horn and Hoover, deep in his 80s, walks the guy through a procedure where he kicks the pedals to slew the tail around and sure enough ... down drops the gear. Right Stuff indeed ..."
