Munster. Panzermuseum
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

The Merkava is inside one of those wooden huts, with little space and poor light. But there aren't many Merkavas inside museums. So far I've seen one in Saumur, Lesany and Munster

Do I understand correctly that this is a multi-capability mine clearance vehicle that uses flails, mine clearing charges and other means to open avenues through minefields? The combination of equipment on there confuses me.

I know very little about the beast. Of course it's a mine clearance vehicle, and I've seen a video where it uses flails. That's pretty much all I know Sad

To my knowledge the Keiler only uses mechanical force to clear a way through a minefield... with the flails on the rotating cylinder it mills a 50 cm deep lane to more or less every type of ground.
As it was produced the Bundeswehr had some troubles to find the needed number (I think only 25 were build) of intact M48 hulls of the one piece type as most of their M48 were already sold or shot up as hard targets...

I think they transmit power to the cylinder with holding the flails, who is normally stored on the side, but I may be wrong.

I would think the enemy would run upon sighting this Monster coming at them.
I thought the same with the US Army's Hovercraft in the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam war.

Ye, they are part of the "flail drum - system" as Massimo already said its seen in the transport configuration. When in use the drum is in Front ...

In the background you can see the area where the Tiger is now located:

Yes, in fact I took plenty of pictures from different angles. See this one from the "pole":
