At AvSim:

"Thanks to Andrew Spring of www.p166.com!! The Piaggio P-180 Avanti is a Luxury Jetprop. Its design is the result of a "thinking outside the box" project philosophy. It means that building techniques are standard while aerodynamics are unique for it's kind. It features a three lifting surface design, laminar flow wing and twin pusher turboprop configuration. Passenger comfort features the possiiblity of standing in feet inside the plane, low noise due to pusher propellers and "Pininfarina" designed arrangement. Performances are unique too, cruising at 395 KTAS (260 KIAS) at 28000 ft, a jet-like speed, being the P-180 a twin turboprop. The result is a 40% reduced operational cost respect to a jet of similar size, and 30% less respect to a similar size turboprop, all at same price of a small Jet. This model is 804 Kbs with c.a. 19000 polygons in c.a.170 assemblies. Features Clickable Dynamic Photortreal VC with Night Lighting, night lighted internals, Photoreal 2D Cockpit, Engine start Effect, advanced FDE, Customizable Payloads. May work with FS 2002 (Not Tested) **READ NOTES BEFORE FLYING**(README.TXT, P180_REF.HTM AND P180_CHECK.HTM, also available as reference and checklist in FS kneeboard...)"

Interesting!!! Previously-Payware aircraft which can be highly competitive in a Round-The-World competition is released as freeware on the eve of the race....go figure the odds of that eh?

BTW I think there maybe a few air file corrections and updates for other aircraft we also have appreciated, admired and flown much in the past....like the Howard 500. Lotta tweaking going on lately.

Thanks for the info!!!

Hmmmmm.

Well I installed it.....can't he'p myself sometimes from temptation......and I get a bunch of errors having to do with the gauges. And a final message saying that an application is not registered for use with FSUIPC (I have the freeware version).

When I installed, I elected to NOT overwrite some of the gauges that I already had - hate it when a new plane makes an old plane's gauges cease to work, knowwhatImean - did you guys do the same???

I believe, in this case, I will also defer to JG300's official 'stylist', "the Manolo", for his input on this. The aircraft is certainly stylish and Italian and all (even somewhat shoe-shaped), but I will pursue these issues only if it's deemed to be "SuperFantastic" by an expert who knows about this style stuff....

Oh, Stoopy, I didn't get any of the problems you say; I don't have FSUIPC installed, neither the freeware version, but I don't think it's just for that.
Can't say about the gauges, as I simply dropped the whole package into the main FS9 directory, so that it overwrote everything, I suppose... Rolling Eyes

Anyway, the tweaked config for the Howard is here:
-> library.avsim.net/esea...DLID=61293

"Howard 500 Aircraft.cfg Updates for All FS2002 and FS2004 Versions by Milton Shupe. Pkg incl a text file to replace sections: Flaps, Brakes, and Reference to add realism. This update is required for the Around The World Race 2005. Simply copy paste like sections to your aircraft.cfg's. "

Honestly, I didn't install it, the Howard flies good as it is, and I don't take part to the race, so... Wink
