Introduction

The history of the Falcon franchise is long and storied — and in the interest of brevity, I'll skip it. Basically, here we sit 13 years after the initial Falcon 4.0 release and she is going stronger than ever. Having spent varying amounts of time with nearly all of the varieties of Falcon (stock, FreeFalcon, Red Viper, Allied Force, etc.) I feel I can definitively state that the most recent iteration of Falcon released by Benchmark Sims is by far the best in the lineage. It is simple to install, stable, beautiful, and in many ways barely resembles the seminal product.

IMO the review is definitely worth a read if you have Falcon 4.0. If you don't have Falcon 4.0 you may wish that you did after you finish the review. Wink

I still have that game and yep, it's been soooo long since I bought it, I had forgotten about it. Nice to see some things have 'staying power'... Wink

Graphics, and the Amazing 3D Cockpit

Upon first entering the cockpit you will be stunned and surprised to see the 2D cockpit is no longer. Instead, a very nice 3D cockpit with fully clickable switches, buttons, and dials presents itself. The 3D pit really doesn't fully shine until you add two things though: TrackIR and the new lighting and self shadowing. When you start to move your head around all axes in the cockpit the true brilliance of the 3D pit is revealed as your HUD symbology moves out of view and the Up Front Controller (UFC) sticks out and blocks the view of your MFDs as you move from left to right.

You're right Wheels, I think I'll see if I can 'dig up' that box from the 'sim games' storage container...lol
