Good MBT-70 Article
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

"allowed it to travel almost three time faster than an M60 without causing problems for the crew"

Not so sure about either of those assertions, especially the last one, and most particularly the driver.

Kinda' reads like a sales brochure.

Some nice pictures, though.

Jared, the picture they had of the "German 120mm Gun" sure looked like a 152mm to me. I'd never heard that before either. We may have to declare BULLS*** Shocked

This is what I had in the original Preserved German Tanks 2 book (published in 1995 - not much updated since):

Preserved MBT-70s / Kampfanzer 70s

This is the recently added FK XM803:

Fort Knox XM803

Trevor,
As you probably know, vehicle #4 in that lineup (the one with the ballast weights on the turret) had been at APG for some time recently, cosmetically purtied up and on the entrance road. Whether it's still there on Ft. Lee now I don't know.

Yes, I mentioned in the first paragraph on that page that such a move had taken place not long before (presumably early 1990s), though I didn't know the details. Neil has since given full details of all MBT-70s here. I must get around to updating that section of the website (for example I have since visited and photographed the one at Danbury) but I have too many parallel projects on at the moment.

Any help would be great:-)

Now done - prompted by Danbury:

Preserved Kampfpanzer 70 / MBT-70 / XM803 tanks
