The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. According to Joe DeMarco the Ordnance Museum's 2 T25E1 medium tanks have now been pulled from storage "behind the fence."

Here is SN 40 - the last T25E1 built.

I've asked Joe for more pictures. He said some other things have been moved around and that there may be a few more tanks out from storage as well... Lots of changes going on at APG lately, and planned in the future... Will have to try to get up there again as soon as possible.

I'm going to be up there on Oct 8 for the fall Urbanna High School tour. I'll see what I can find out. Several vehicles have been moved to teh Museum Parking lot (near the Elefant) because the parking area near the warehouse had to be emptied to be repaved.

Well, hopefully the T43 (M103) heavy tank pilot's barrel isnt resting on the turret of the tank in front of it anymore? Wink

Joe indicated that many of the vehicles formerly outside the warehouse are now at another intersection - but not at the museum?

LOL... I havent heard anything further on that since it was "imminent" last year... I wouldnt be surprised if it doesnt come back until the move to Fort Lee...

That being said, there has been a lot of movement of vehicles since the new director took over a few months ago... So who knows...

Joe DeMarco just sent me some pictures of a few more treasures that are now out from "behind the fence." Like the T25E1s, these havent been seen in years...

M1922 Medium A Tank - very curious what that is to the left (some sort of SPH with a recoil spade?), but on the right appears to be an M901 ITV

T2 Medium Tank - is that an XM800W on the left, FAASV on the right?

T4 Medium Tank - Rock Island Arsenal's unlicensed copy of the Christie transmission. Looks like another M7 Priest as well?

I really need to get up there soon!

I've never known of a ROBAT in the Ordnance Museum collection - only place I've seen one is in that grainy picture from TACOM Warren.

Other items "behind the fence" that might show up are:

2 M3 Half-Tracks
1 M32A1B3
1 M44
1 M47 Patton
1 Mk VIII Liberty tank
1 T37 Phase II light tank
1 T41E1 Walker Bulldog (M41A3 pilot)
1 T49 Walker Bulldog (with the 90mm gun - like the one at Fort AP Hill)
1 T92 Howitzer Motor Carriage "King Kong"
1 T93 Gun Motor Carriage
1 XM800W ARSV

Is this the picture you are talking about?
62.128.210.96/tanks-mi...m1060.html
Amazon apparently had reports on it. See:
www.amazon.co.uk/Indep...B00072NPQM
and
www.amazon.co.uk/exper...146&sr=1-6
Wonder if there were pictures in the report?

There's a picture of an "M60 panther" which appears similar at:
www.militaryphotos.net...892&page=4
Here's picture:
www.hudong.com/wiki/%E...7%E8%BD%A6
No idea what the text says.

LeeW,

That's it. Trying to figure out what happened to them. Like Neil said the most recent sighting was in the Warren MI picture. There were actually 3 made. The picture you posted is one of the two M60A3 based models. The original was based on an M60A2 hull and was set up with a single MCLIC box.

Lee, this is the grainy picture of a parking lot at TACOM in Warren MI we we think shows a ROBAT on the left side of the picture.

It was discussed in this thread.

Glad to see these "ghosts" reappearing after having been hidden for some years. I think that the "re-discovery" of the M1922 Medium A will alleviate you of the "lost" of the LT-35.

Maybe there are more treasures than the ones Neil listed in his "behind the fence" list.. who knows?

I am pretty sure it is an M981 FIST-V due to the lack of the external fuel tanks on the rear.

Jens O.
Wouldn't that make it an M901 ITV if it doesn't have external tanks?

Rob is right,

Besides, all the M981's I've seen had no openings in the "Hammer Head" for the TOW's. Some units would paint black circles on them hoping to confuse their ID with M901 ITV's , But that was when the M901 was still very common.
