APG's former A7V
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

"in Maryland, USA. Broken up for scrap."

Good call, these things are a dime a dozen. Rolling Eyes

According to my notes it was destroyed in 1942. Not to defend it, but at least it was during WWII and there's only one survivor today - so APG wasnt the only one to make this mistake...

WAS IT??? Someone needs to be jailed!!

It amazes me how some 'pencil-neck geek' can rise to a position of authority and then make some really stupid recommendations,.......Makes me sick. Evil or Very Mad

Given it was 1942, I imagine that the thinking was more along the lines of: "We'll give it back to the Nazis alright, in pieces, out of the barrels of our guns and bombays of our planes!!"

Things were pretty desperate back then, actually worse than what most people - even today - realized.

Kurt

You have a point.

I was thinking of the 50's thru 70's when such actions & decisions were made. Without the influence of such desperate times.
