M113's in VietNam
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Good set of photos of M113 series vehicles in Viet Nam. M132 flame throwers and one with an M113 mounted minigun!

Mark,
Saw your comment on this page. Not only does it have a mini-gun, it has a pintle-mounted .50 for the driver! Never seen such a set-up before.

I see all kinds of potential problems with that in the bush, though. I'm guessing this one was kept pretty close to the firebase or NDP's and motored about mid-pack on well broken trails.

I missed that (50 Cal), Doug. Too busy looking at the minigun. There was an 11th Cav M132 flame thrower. D Troop I think. Do you remember having those?

Mark,
We did not have any "zippos" in my troop, nor to the best of my knowledge, in the Sqdn. when I was with them. We did have a few of those things mounting the 40mm grenade autoloader. Sheridan's probably made zippo's redundant.
D.
