I think our terminology must have the non-shooters confused Doug. granted it's only a song, but if I gotta lug a .45 frame anyway, I 'd want just that Smile , not a .32-20 Rolling Eyes

Hallo' Shades
a .45-70 was the standard US Army infantry cartridge* during our post civil war years it used a .458 inch diameter 500 grain lead bullet (45) with a powder charge of 70 grains of black powder. This is roughly equal to her majesties' Martini Henry in 577/.455 caliber. just nifty for that giant tree rat.
Doug is still reliving the music of his youth Rolling Eyes

* to save the inevitable follow up letters the US calvary used a cartridge with a dimentionally identical casing but loaded with a 405 grain bullet over 55 grains of black powder to lower recoil in their carbines and make it easier to stay mounted.

Correction, Doug is regressing back to his youth....

Robert Johnson's version, which deals with (what else?...wimmins)

John Hammonds has a different focus (the war...that be WWII)...but it's not on Youtube..so you get the 'father' anyway...

Until we can get John Hammond's version up here, we can try to make to with something in a similar vein....
