Grizzly and Sexton Versions
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Now THAT was interesting ...

I don't usually check in much anymore, but I found this Sexton, Ram, come Grizzly in Holland thread most interesting. Also happy to see Hanno Spoelstra still solving our Sherman problems.

Good to be back

MY GOD! Somebody spotted me online...

I'm fine. My 77th birthday comes up Feb.23.
I now have the triple by-pass plus a defibrillator implant, so there is No Way I can die anymore!!!! : Cool

Something that you die-hard 1/35 model Ram & Grizzly fans might like to hear is that Panda Plastics approached me last year about info for producing a set of Canadian Dry Pin tracks for their line of track products.
I have no idea if they are still going ahead with it, but Paul Decker seemed quite enthusiastic when we last talked.
Their web site: www.shermantracks.com/
The way new and unique Allied models are being released by Bronco, MiniArt and Tasca these days, I would not be too surprised to see one of them give us a Ram, Sexton or Kangaroo.

Where did the Grizzly tank go Confused Confused Confused

Hi Michel,

It came from the UK, and went to the Liberation museum at Nijmegen: www.warmuseums.nl/gal/130gal.htm

The Ram came from a Netherlands Army depot, was to be restored for the Liberation museum by a British Army depot in Germany. A British Army Officer set up the swap so Bovington got the Ram and the Nijmegen museum a "proper" Sherman. . .

Hello George,

Great to hear you are back! I´m not around here very often, but still trying to keep a tab on what´s happening regarding Shermans.

Let's hope so, I'm an fan of the big German Panzers however an model of something like that would be nice for an change Mr. Green

Especially because of the historic point of view here in Holland

I know which one you mean, that is the one at the Liberation museum at Groesbeek
The one that allmost every body is calling an US-type Sherman called "Grizzly"

So it should be an: Canadian Grizzly tank Razz

Will change that one also

Hanno, do you have anything else I should know Wink

I found something about 3 Kangaroo's found in the UK on your site
web.inter.nl.net/users...ngaroo.htm
No 1 was restored and is on display in Mill
No 2 was sold to some-one of the restoration team of vehicle 1 (also in Holland ??)
No 3 was also shipped to Holland

Michel,

No.2 is Ram Kangaroo Shop No.1112 CT-40892; it eventually ended up at the Canadian War Museum in Canada.

No.3 is at Staman Trading / Jeeparts NL at Nijverdal.

HTH,
Hanno

NOW could you all tell me if everything is correct in this document (updated today), please :

http://the.shadock.free.fr/Surviving_Canadian_Australian_Cruiser_Tanks.pdf

That's probably the most complicated PDF file that I have to deal with, because information is not that hard to find, but everyone gives a bit of information (that is finally revealed as being right or wrong...) and it's complicated to summarize everything without doing mistakes...

thanks !!

Pierre-Olivier

Hi P-O

just 1 itsy bitsy tiny thing about the RAM Evasive target tanks at Amersfoort and Bovington Twisted Evil
If I understand the text on Hanno Spoelstra his site correctly Mr. Green

There where 44 tanks delivered to the Dutch army, including 4 Command/O.P. tanks
Of this total batch of 44, two where converted to RAM Evasive tanks
These 2 tanks, in this conversion, where not part of the delivery
They where either "standard" RAM tanks or Command/O.P. tanks at the time

Michel
