That looks like a Montigny mitrailleuse:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitrailleuse
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...trailleuse

In Morges there is mitrailleuse, just a different model, maybe a Reffye:

Yep, in that first Wiki link, there are a couple of references to Dr. Patrick Marder. I'm 99.99% sure that's who I was corresponding with. He was very knowledgeable, genial and helpful. IIRC, we determined it was a Reffye (or Montigny) design or variant. It's been a couple of years. I think I got steered to him from a Romanian Army history* website where I had linked "our" thread and asked about this.

Surprise, surprise, Mircea87 is a poster over there, so he can probably help us out on a lot of stuff if he checks in. I found folks on that forum pretty helpful, the little bit I've visited. There is also a publication on Romanian artillery that might interest you, as it's available in pdf and Romanian seems fairly comprehensible to English and Italian speakers (on technical matters, in print). Probably easy for you.

Indeed I used www.worldwar2.ro to get additional info on some artillery pieces in the Museum

57 mm Hotchkiss 1891-1916.
Seems like during WW I the Rumanian Army tried to put together as much artillery as possible, many guns were removed from fortifications and put on top of any kind of chassis was at hand. This is one of those:

Talking about mitrailleuse and similar weapons from that period (1860-1880), I took some pictures at Solothurn Museum (Switzerland) some weeks ago, among other things there were two funky looking, multi-barrel weapons of the same age. I'll post pictures once they will be ready (my backlog is getting bigger and bigger...)
