Focus on the M41A3 (SN 1086)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I crawled into the M41A3 after finding the escape hatch removed.

Data Plate was missing but the SN was stamped in the hull wall 'behind' the missing data plate. Located on the left side of drivers compartment

Turret was very clean & complete

Is this a counterweight under the breechblock?

And now for the interesting stuff on the rear area.

This was a neat 'find'. The Infantry phone:

And,....the MWO Data Plate

Kurt
I think the upper right stamped number is the SN for the vehicles. It matches up on this vehicle.

I'll see about comparing the other M41's to see if this is common to them also.

My RMP visit/work session was cut short so wasn't able to check the other M41's in RMP. I'll see about that on next visit.

Regards
Don

No. The breech is off to the right in the photo. Its under the gun mount.

Both data plates (Gun mount & Recoil Mech) can be seen just above the counter weight 'plates'.

Picky, picky! It's a counterweight for the gun, which I hadn't realized they had. Musta' missed that paragraph in "Sheridan". Razz

One neat find was the Drivers commo headset in a bin in the drivers compartment.
