A few vehicles I saw at Ropkey's Museum in Crawfordsville In
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I thought there was a thread here that said the FT-17 from Ropkey had been collected by the U.S. Government. Or was that another FT-17

nope Fred has it, The government people? took some other things, I believe a 8" Howitzer, M42 Duster, M47 Patton and a M114 are missing. I could be wrong.. The M1917 engine is out but its running, very cool

That Duster wasn't restored yet. Had all the original paint and rust. It was like stepping back into time. You can't do that with the restored vehicles these days.

Yea, I just traced down the original thread. We wondered about the FT-17 so I guess that has been answered. Nice pictures

I know where those particular vehicles ended up. I posted a few shots of them, guess I need to dig them up again.

FYI-
Gov't did not seize anything from Ropkey. He elected to return all loaned military vehicles so he could keep his musuem private.

Fred Ropkey is really a nice person to spend some time and chat with. He was a tank commander in Korea in a M4A3 105MM Sherman. He has some pretty interesting things to talk about.

I need to plan another day out there soon and get some new pictures! Razz
