The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: M60A0 in Rhodes, Iowa

Friend just sent me this pic. Appears to be near some monument.

I originally mis-identified it as an M48, just by looking at the front end. I realize now my eyes put a curve in it that's not really there!

Two easy ID features: The M48A5 has 5 support rollers and the M48A5 has fenders bent at a 45 degree angle (at the front and rear ends) whereas the M60 has rounded fenders. _________________ "TUMBLEWEED"

I was going by the front bow. That it was boat shaped. Must be my eyes! Sorry about that.

It does look like it's bowed! The main reason I know is because I worked on M48A5's and M60A1's at the same time at Fort Irwin in the early 80's. _________________ "TUMBLEWEED"
