Yo,.Hoppa!

If you are in the mood for something a little updated, look into the.Steam version of FSX. I just made the jump to it... it looks a bit better, runs smoother, has some important fixes and tweaks built in, and installs automatically as a download. I havent found anything that is not compatible with it yet. Multiplayer actually works too. And its like 25 bucks.

Good to see you and lookin forward to you being in the air again!

Good to see you back Hoppa.

Stoopy, i've heard about Steam but never checked into it. Does it work with the ORBX scenery? Currently have Northern California and Lake Tahoe but want to also get the PNW scenery.

Yep it works with Orbx scenery very well. In addition Orbx is also now starting to develop dedicated FSX Steam content, although it appears redudndant to me if you already own their scenery for an area. In the Orbx community screenshot forums there are a fair number of FSX Steam screenies that are quite impressive.

Also, Muliplayer works again, totally seamless and smooth!

I did find one thing that does not work... later versions of FSX Recorder. Version 1.3 is supposed to work, but newer versions use a lot of unpublished hacks as workarounds to do what the program does, which dont apply to the Steam version. Everything else so far has been fine.

Sometimes the FSX Steam goes on sale for $5 but its very hard to know when, and I decided that the normal price is reasonable considering things like Orbx addons.

I'll start an FSX:Steam Editon thread in the FSX forum in the next couple days outlining my experience and observations with it since there seems to be some interest. Then Hoppa can go back to telling us what he's been up to since we last seen 'im.

Also please to excuse typos, I am typing this on my phone while sitting in airport(s) today.
