The Optimus Keyboard, which was believed to cost a mere $1,200, will in fact cost

$1,490

- a hefty price tag for some, especially for a keyboard. More good news has been announced: the OLED keys have a lifespan of only 5 years, depending upon use. They also decided to rename their keyboard "Optimus Maximus" (the god of gods). Pre-orders start in April with delivery in November/December 2007.

The Maximus will have 114 keys, some of them featuring 32x32 pixel full-color OLED displays that are replaceable and customizable by users. Production of the keyboards began on February 7, 2007, the company announced.
