Post subject: FFB2 driver problem.

One of my EURO colleagues has just got a new system and wants to connect up his old M$ - FFB2 joystick.

Unfortunately, he has lost the installation disc.

Fortunately, I still have mine.

Unfortunately, he's in the U.S. and I'm in the U.K.

Fortunately, I have web-space I can host the install file for him to d/l.

Unfortunately, there's around 380Mb of install file and don't have enough web-space to host it.

So, to my question;

Does anyone know which driver files he needs from the install cd to get his j/s Forces Feedback working?

If the files are small enough I can host them, otherwise I need to find another solution for him.

Okies, I'll do that instead.

Let me find my disk and I'll put it on the server Shades and post the link for you. Give me a day or two if you can as this weeks schedule is very busy... Wink

WOOHOO!
Cheers Bushy, that would help a lot.
I have the update which I can easily send him as it's only a small file.
It's the first disc that's the problem.

I was able to download the drivers and calibration software from the manufacturer website - quick and easy - lost my disk years ago.

Yeh I only used mine with CFS1 and IL2 but I seem to remember my forces worked from within the games rather than any drivers.
I also think the drivers were included with one of the XP Service Packs.
Things aren't looking good.
Beginning to suspect his power lead may be dodgy.

I'll try and find the link on M$'s j/s site and point him toward it.

Sadly, after some searching through the M$ support site, it would appear that they have removed the support page for this item.
Not surprising I guess, as they stopped making them.
Ah well.

Looks like we still need those files then please Bushster.

I'm still running my FFB2 and the only way I could get the software to install was to do it safe mode on XP. Seems it isn't compatible with XP. Seems even tho I got it to install that way I couldn't setup the profiles so on my new puter I just run it under the XP drivers.

It may be conflicting with something else.
I've run 13 on on XP.
I think my bud has the same problem although he seems to be having lots of problems with XP generally as well.

Clarification as I see it ...... lol

FFB2 works fine with XP SP2 drivers no problem....

The profiler is not compatible with XP... guess thats the reason they (MS) stopped making em

So if you can set the FFB2 from within the game to your liking no probs... but if you want fancy preprogrammed commands you gonna be out of luck

Also I have not found a way to reduce centring forces using XP drivers

If anyone knows different I would love to profile my FFB2 under XP

catcha .. Sly

Rgr Sly and thanks for the input.

BTW Shades, I'm still looking for the disk. My FFB2 stick quit working a few years ago, but I know I kept the disk....uhm......somewhere..lol

Like Sly said, I don't recall being able to use it for XP. It seems to me the stock XP drivers worked. That is, until the PC Board fried... Shocked
