Post subject: Norton Ghost

Let me say firstly, the word Norton sends shivers down me keyboard. Smile

I'm looking for a good disk backup software, two that spring to mind are PowerQuest's Drive Image and Symantec's Norton Ghost [/shiver]

Anyone have any experience of either, good or bad comments please.

I would like the software to be able to backup networked drives, i.e. I would like to perform backup operations of my networked computer from my main computer and store the backup file on the main computer, like wise to restore a backup, I would like to boot a networked computer into a recovery mode and then restore the backup from the main computer.

Why? 'Cause my networked computer lives behind the desk and it's a pain to get to.

Your biased Shades so I know what you'll suggest. Mr. Green

I thank you's.

Post subject: Re: Norton Ghost

lol.
But, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
I can't.
I have no experience of Ghost.
I have a copy but never used it.

Only reason I go on about NIS (360 as it's become) is because I tested a load of security app's side by side a few years ago myself, and Norton won by a mile.
I went through the whole learning-up process with the guy who used to run Stormbringer.net (the ultimate security site that is sadly no longer with us).
Has to be said that Norton's gone downhill since then (resource hog-wise) but it's still the best at doing what I want it for so I still use it.
I installed 360 yesterday so I don't have much experience of it but, so far, it does actually seem to use wayyyyyyyyy less resources. Has some means of using them in the background so you don't notice it so much while you're doing something else.
Which is what they should have done years ago.
Mr. Green
