Hey Gang,

We'll be in OK City next week and are planning a trip down to Ft Sill to check out the museum.

Anything specific we need to photograph for you all?

Cheers,
VB

I would love to see the current status of Semovente da 149/40. It's the only one ever build.

Dear Colleague,
thank you for an interesting offer. I am interested in guns reportedly captured U.S. Army in Skoda Plzen. Please check whether they are in the collections of the museum at Fort Sill.

Hi VB! Hi Folks!

I would be interested in a report on all the air defense equipment that was moved up there. Is in on display? Is it out side? Is is locked away?

If it is out, pictures of the lower rear hull of the Sgt. York would be nice.

Thanks for the offer! Enjoy your trip!

Massimo - We saw the Semovente da 149/40. It has a new coat of paint and is on display outside.

JiriTintera - We saw a Czech 100mm model 14/19 on display

Roy - We didn't see any of the ADA museum equipment that is listed in the Registry V 3.1 - I met the Artillery Museum curator and will email him and ask about the ADA equipment. I'll let you know what I find out.

All - we took close to 900 photos so it will take a while to process and post them.
The Artillery Museum has a jaw-dropping amount of stuff on display. We were hard pressed to get photos of everything on display in the 6 hours we were there. It is an amazing museum!!!

Does it have tracks?

Thanks

Massimo -

The Semovente da 149/40 doesn't have tracks. According to the guys at Ft Sill the tracks were either lost or had completely deteriorated during her time at Aberdeen.

Maybe Bob Smart has more info about her time at Aberdeen and what became of the tracks?

Hey all -

I emailed the Ft Sill Artillery Museum curator and asked about the ADA artifacts that Roy mentioned.

I received this is response to my inquiry:

"The Air Defense Artillery Museum artifact collection was moved from Fort
Bliss to Fort Sill in 2010-2011. In addition to the original artifacts from
the Fort Bliss facilities, a number of new pieces have been acquired from
other posts and museums to further broaden the collection. The ADA
collection is currently housed in two warehouse building and semi-permanent
storage facility. One of the buildings is configured as the Air Defense
Artillery Learning Center to serve as a training facility for ADA Soldiers
on branch heritage and history. Construction on a new ADA Park to exhibit
selected pieces of the collection is set to begin this summer and is located
adjacent to Constitution Park and the Field Artillery Museum."

Cheers,
VB

Hi VB! Hi Folks!

Sounds like the plan calls for all the items that were restored and put inside will end up out in the weather. So sad to heard.

Thanks for the update VB.
