Howdee Gentlemen,

HF_Arcangel and I have recently completed a short video tutorial, which explains the procedure of plotting your position from a single non directional beacon (NBD) using the ADF gauge in your cockpit. The concept was was originally devised to help IL2 Sturmovik pilots navigate over water on a dogfight map without having the map icons enabled. However, the same principle can be applied to any flight simulator, providing that you have an ADF gauge in your cockpit.

If you navigate primarily with GPS, then this tutorial may not be of particular interest. However, if you appreciate the challenge of navigation during a VFR flight, and you were never really certain how to utilise the ADF gauge, then this short film should give you some insight. The content of the film is by no means a new idea. Pilots worldwide have employed this exercise long before GPS was invented.

Outstanding! CC has been talking about this very concept for a while now. Perhaps we can carry this idea on as "Video Tutorials" and host them in a special download/viewing section. Wink
