Finished the Basic Motorcycle Riding course today. It was a great experience and I'm glad I did it. Riding for quite a while and being self taught, you learn all kinds of things that make handling and maneuvering a Motorcycle so much easier not to mention stuff I didn't even know that I was doing wrong and can get you in trouble. Was hard at times to break bad habits but in the end I beat em' Laughing

As soon as I get the Certificate of completion in the mail I'll take a trip to the DMV and I'm official!

That's the beauty of the MSF safety course....no rider's test required. Word I've always gotten was that the course was extremely difficult on all but the smallest standard street bikes (and the state requires that you bring your own bike).

Happily, I came in with reciprocity from another state.

SuuuWEEEE, Congrats Richard! I was just reminding myself I have to find that volume 1 of David Hough's Proficient Motorcycling to send you, especially now - it makes a great follow-on to the MSF.

Re: those bad habits, like sticking a leg out or putting a foot down, I relate to how difficult they can be to break. So extra congrats on that part. Bet it feels good to be nice and 'legal' now eh?

The other cool thing is I got a Yamaha TW200 Dual Sport as my assigned bike which is close to being a Mini version of my TT600 and what I'll actually be riding. Was the only Dual sport there. The rest were small cruisers like the Rebel and Kawasakis. I remember when we were standing there waiting to get assigned bikes I was thinking "Please let me get that one". Laughing

After I got it I also noticed that the wheel base appeared to be significantly shorter than the Cruisers which probably made the confined space riding easier. Mr. Green

Perfect. Ex-wife did hers on something like a Suziki 250 which was excellent. Guys showing up for text on 1L. sport or tour bikes had a rough time, to say nothing of guys on real tourers and cruisers. Big bike kill you on the state test.
